On July 30-31, 2026, Oman Tank Terminal Company (OTTCO), a subsidiary of OQ Group, issued the EPC prequalification tender for Phase 2 of the Ras Markaz Crude Oil Park — the sultanate’s largest strategic crude storage facility, located outside the Strait of Hormuz. Phase 1 (26.7 million barrels of capacity) is complete; the ultimate design capacity is approximately 200 million barrels across a 40-square-kilometre park.

Large crude storage hubs drive sustained laboratory work: incoming crude quality verification, BS&W and sediment testing, density and viscosity profiling for blending, and export custody-transfer certification. Every expansion phase at Ras Markaz increases the testing burden on both OTTCO’s own quality assurance and third-party inspection laboratories.
