Working Principle

The A1100 operates based on the Rotating Pressure Vessel Oxidation Test (RPVOT) principle. A measured quantity of lubricating oil is placed in a sealed pressure vessel together with distilled water and a copper catalyst coil. The vessel is then filled with oxygen to a specific pressure and immersed in a constant-temperature heating bath.

During operation, the vessel rotates at a constant speed, ensuring uniform reaction conditions. As oxidation proceeds, oxygen is consumed, resulting in a gradual decrease in internal pressure. The instrument continuously records pressure changes over time and generates a pressure-time curve.

When a significant pressure drop occurs, the system automatically detects the oxidation induction period, which represents the oxidation stability of the oil sample. A longer induction period indicates better oxidation resistance and higher oil quality.

This method provides a reliable simulation of real operating conditions in turbines and industrial lubrication systems, making it a widely accepted standard test in the petroleum industry.
